How to find Ridiculously Cheap Holidays for Students

As a student I know just how cash strapped we are. We want to travel and see the world usually on a shoe string budget. This post will give you tips on how to find cheap holidays online.

Tip 1: Be Spontaneous

Many holiday companies have last minute cancellations by customers who cannot make their holiday. This allows the travel operator to offer the flight and hotel for cheap price. As the tip suggests you need to be spontaneous and be ready to jet off straight away as your flight could be in a couple of days.

Tip 2: Searching Hack

I have decided to do an experiment using the website www.lastminute.com to show you just how cheap I can get a holiday for. To do this you need to select an airport, a destination and a date you can fly. My advice is to try many different combinations and click search and make sure your date is not too far in the future. I searched up to 2 weeks of the date you are looking:

For example the date I was searching for holidays was 28/06/2016

Tip 3: Travel Low season

During the months between June-August this is known as high season with a large demand for holidays. The greater the demand the more expensive booking a holiday becomes. Some travel sites are known to add up to 75% more to the price than compared to the low season.

Tip 4: Pack light

Unless you’re some kind of famous person what is the point of trying to fit 28 outfits in a suitcase. If you travel without a suitcase you can more than half your flight costs. Most airlines allow you to have 10kg of hand luggage to take with you on the plane so utilise it.

Tip 5: Book flights only

If you have a rough idea where you are going why don’t you just book a flight and get a hotel when you arrive.

Let me explain a bit better; If I wanted to book Magaluf in Mallorca I would get a flight to Palma airport (Mallorca airport) then get a taxi to the Magaluf area. Tourist areas like this have lots of hotels so finding accommodation is really easy and cheaper than booking through a tour operator.
