9 things you will encounter on a party holiday with your friends

Having been on a lot of lad’s holidays in the past to places such as Kavos, Magaluf, Amsterdam and many more I have decided to do this post on what you will encounter regardless on where you go.

Pesty Promoters

Anywhere you go on a party holiday it will have an abundance of promoters trying and get you to spend your money booking events and spend money in their bars. As soon as you arrive at your hotel your reps usually try and sell you their events package. You walk along the strip and you will get stopped every 2 minutes with some new promoter trying to sell you something. Once you go into a bar shot girls will be on you like a tramp on chips to try and make you buy their products.

Don’t get me wrong there are pros to talking to promoters such as haggling to get really good drink deals. At a lot of places in Magaluf I managed to get 2 vodka mixers, 2 shots and a fishbowl for 5 euros which is a very good deal.

Tensions within the group

Constant drinking, lack of sleep and the blistering hot weather can all cause tensions between your group. So I shared a room for a week with 3 of my friends when I went on holiday. Being in a small space for a week with them I realised everyone had their own routines. One lad was very confrontational after he had a drink, another liked to wake up early and make lots of noise when the rest of us wanted a lie in and one lad had borderline OCD so he hated mess. This caused people to argue, act moody and begin to talk behind each other’s back. These arguments were usually short lived and as long as you respect each other you should be fine.

That one night your friend get badly drunk

Regardless if you’re on a lads or girls holiday expect during your holiday your friend will get really drunk. Getting them back to the hotel will be a struggle expect slurred speech, them claiming they’re not that drunk and them not being able to walk properly. I had an experience with one of my friends getting in a bad state attempting to break dance, trying to kiss the reps and getting him to the hotel was a nightmare. My advice is make sure that your friend is safe in the room before heading back to the strip.

Roles starting to develop within the group

You will notice that certain people within your group will start to play different roles throughout your holiday. Natural leaders within your group will make a lot of decisions such as were to eat, what bars to go and what activities you will do. The more cautious people in the group will double check everything such as flights, transfers to the hotel and making sure the room has a safe to put their things in. You will get the care free people who just go along with the flow and easy to get along with.

Meeting a group of girls/lads and promising to meet up

This usually happens every time on holiday; you meet a group of lads/girls and spend a lot of time with them during the holiday. You add them on social media and promise to meet up back in the UK. You many even talk with them for a while on social media but it eventually fizzles out. You need to remember that once your back to the UK it is back to reality; you go back to work or university and pick up on your life before you went on holiday.

Expect to make some great memories

There’s nothing better than being on holiday with your friends. There will be lots of events and funny things that will happen that you will always remember. You will meet likeminded people, experience a different style of night life and explore a new place.

Pulling

When you are in places like Kavos, Zante, Magaluf etc there will be a lot of sexual tension. Many groups of lads and girls go on these types of holidays to pull the opposite sex. It is normal in bars and clubs to see people snogging and sexual behaviour is encouraged if you take part in drinking games. If you stay out until the end of the night you usually see lads and girls going back to each other’s rooms to have sex. For lad’s confidence is key to pull on these types of holidays so don’t be afraid to talk or dance with the girls. For girls they usually have an abundance of lads coming up to them and if you are good looking you’ll get even more attention.

Having a bad stomach

A lot of people abroad suffer from having a bad stomach when they are away. This could be because you’re not used to the food, consuming large amounts of alcohol or drinking tap water. I highly recommend taking a pack of anti-diarrhoea tablets as this will sort your stomach out if you take one a day.

Sharing is caring

I shared a room with 3 lads on my last couple of party holidays. What I noticed regardless of who I share with everyone uses each other’s things. This makes sense because there is no point packing 4 hairdryers if you can all share one. Everyone brought their own toiletries, clothes and body sprays but we would just use whatever we wanted.
